Calming Cubby
During the spa day, your cat will take all their breaks in our specially-designed Calming Cubby™️. Your cat gets a rest break in between each grooming step, which helps them feel safe and calm.
They quickly learn that even if they don’t love a particular grooming activity, they will soon be done and can return to their safe, warm Cubby.
Each aspect of the Calming Cubby has been designed with relaxation in mind. While other groomers keep cats in their carriers before and after grooming—with no access to water or a litterbox—we make sure your kitty has everything they need to feel comfortable and pampered. We also pay particular attention to the olfactory environment in the Calming Cubby: we use spray calming pheromones and botanical scents that have been shown to induce feelings of calm and comfort in cats.
Our spa days take longer than a traditional grooming appointment partly because your cat gets so much more rest and downtime in between steps (and partly because we include more services in the spa day, such as the dental check). Combined with copious treat breaks, the Calming Cubby rest breaks quickly teach your cat that the spa is a safe place.
What’s Inside The Calming Cubby™️?
A bowl of chilled, filtered water is placed in the corner of the Calming Cubby in case your kitty gets thirsty during their time at the spa!
A soft, white towel covers the bottom of the Calming Cubby to keep your kitty comfortable! We use white fabrics at the spa because it makes insects like fleas or ticks easier to detect. To help your cat feel cozy, we use two calming sprays on the towel, which aid in boosting relaxation through the natural calming pheromones they mimic!
A litter box is placed on one side the Calming Cubby for your kitty. We use either tofu litter or crystal litter, depending on the cat’s needs.
The front and sides of the Calming Cubby are made with frosted glass windows and mesh grated panels so your kitty can see out a little bit and enjoy some natural light, while still feeling calm and separated from any activity happening in the spa.
